AK to FL - Day 4

Another very long day of driving...longer than yesterday. It was a slow start for us this morning. We woke up to dense fog and decided to leave a bit later hoping for better visibility. Much of the first half of the day was slow-going between the fog, road construction, increase in traffic, and steep grades. We had our sights set on reaching Edmonton today, and halfway through the day we were convinced we would stop short of there by at least a few hours.

The second half of our day greatly improved as the weather cleared and served us up a helping of freeway! After coming such a long way on just a double lane highway, I don't think either of us realized how much it had begun to wear on us until today. We've never been so excited over a road before! The site of the freeway was almost as exciting as some of what we saw yesterday.

As we headed out of British Columbia and into Alberta, the scenery changed dramatically. The fall colors were a little richer, the towns were larger and more frequent, and farm lands replaced the mountains and canyons. Still beautiful but in a different way.

As exhausted as we all are from a very long drive today, we're also excited to be one day closer to coming back home to our own country. We made it to Edmonton after all and tomorrow if all goes well, we'll cross over into Montana. Canada has been lovely, but the prices remind us a little too much of Cordova (sometimes worse) and I'm constantly messing up my metric conversions. Why aren't we on the ball with the metric system? And what's up with charging $3 for a can of soda, eh!?
